1 The purpose of the interviews was threefold: (1) to accurately identify what roadway geometry and inventory data items are currently included in each developer's roadway network database, (2) to learn more about developers' internal procedures for updating and enhancing their databases, and (3) to explore each developer's current business plans for creating a national roadway database to support IntelliDrive applications. Interviews were conducted with four of the five commercial developers of roadway networks databases that provide nationwide all-road coverage for vehicle routing, navigation, and location-based services.
